IATSE Local 33 100th Anniversary Celebration

The stage for the 100th Anniversary Celebration of IATSE Local 33, at the Pasadena Civic AuditoriumLocal 33’s first 100 years were celebrated at the Pasadena Center on July 24, 1996. A reception was held on the front steps of the Pasadena Civic Auditorium before the start of the program. Once inside the celebration started with a film showing Brothers and Sisters at work through the jurisdiction put to the music from Randy Newman’s hit “I Love LA”.

Brother Larry Carter sang the National Anthem for the start of the meeting.

The chairman for the event was Roy LaVoise and he started the festivities with a welcome speech. President Theodore Zachary made introductions of the Anniversary Committee, Local Officers, and Special Guests.

The Pasadena Civic Auditorium under constructionAmong the high lights was the awarding of Gold Cards, to the members with 50 years of service to the Local, by International President Thomas Short and General Secretary-Treasurer Michael Procia. Brother Don Trepp introduced a silent film, of the construction of the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. Videotape retrospective about television was produced by Brothers Berry Mitchel, Web Webber, and Roy LaVoise. The reading of proclamations, congratulatory telegrams, and letters that were received for the 100th Anniversary of Local 33 was by Brother Thomas McAleer. International President Thomas Short addressed the audience with words of encouragement.

Not wanting to go into a meal penalty the meeting adjourned to the dinning area for dinner...
